BEST TOP-TO-BOTTOM Terrain Park Ever! - CREST MELTDOWN
Easily the BEST top-to-bottom terrain park I've ever seen in Utah. 🤯 The Brighton Crest Meltdown is bigger & better than last year's Milly Meltdown. With temps staying cold throughout the start of May and a 3 FOOT snowstorm, there's still a TON of snow.

    This is a fair assessment! I’ve lived in cedar for 8 years and Brian head has become my home resort. It’s not the biggest or the best but everyone is always pretty awesome there and I love getting a season pass and not having to sell a kidney to buy it. Love my resort and glad you got to experience it, Hope to get you back soon!🤙🏼

    The fact that terrain and snow quality is an 8, while Brighton is also an 8 blows my mind. Pow mow should at least be an 8.5 if Brighton is an 8

    • @BoredProgression
      @BoredProgression 24 дні тому

      Brighton has better variety, cliffs, trees all around every corner of the resort vs the flat sections of PowMow and though it gets tracked out faster, the snow is lighter & stays fluffier at Brighton’s higher elevation. PowMow stays untracked longer but has less side hits, cliffs etc., and the many east facing slopes get a nasty melt/freeze cycle that Brighton doesn’t. I think that evens the category pretty well.

    I worked full time in Brian head for 3 seasons. The old timers had a saying “ski the dirt with Burt” as one of the founders of the resort opened early back in the day too, sometimes with dirt still on the runs.

    Returned my OA4, without a fair bit of post processing the compression algorithm on the OA3/4 results in almost all loss of definition in the snow, looks like a solid white mass compared to GoPro. Same seems to office for road surface texture and grass. Quite obviously one viewed on a monitor in full resolution. Ashame as I’m sure the detail is captured by the OAs but just lost in processing. For me this was not acceptable. Now back with GoPro (choose 11 over 12 for the GPS overlays)

    • @BoredProgression

      Are you exposing correctly? I'm not seeing loss of definition in the snow, even in this video.

      Still not a reason to stop us from getting on the chair. Wildcat alone would be worth riding but I’ve done high boy on a board, gunsight, etc., If it’s worth the effort some will do it, if it’s not, the skiers will still get it to themselves anyway so point is moot for banning boards.

    I tried and tried them and tried to enjoy them (for this whole season!) but I got to say, don't believe the hype. Maybe I was too stoked, maybe me or my boots aren't right but exiting is really tough for me. I even watched all the videos and tried all the tips and ticks and more (waking them.). I have to pull so hard I pull my foot and sock out of the boot and have to refit. Seldom could I get a full step in and out for the same run. I finely tried swapping them on the other foot as they actually work better that way for me but are still a pain to exit. The release handles and strap release should be on the same side. The strap locks should be removed. I really so want them to work but they are on my rock board now. Really you need a pole, tree or partner nearby to step in and out as they do in the videos. You can see they don't show the full entrance and exit with someone standing up alone in all the videos. I should have notice that. And I found them to lock up or not lock with real CO pow pow snow. I could not escape and would fall over. The handle need more length and give. The mechanics need to be shielded better from snow. Especially if you have to bail. I saw guys with the burtons and the other steps in (I plan to try) without issue as I was struggling in the same stuff on multiple occasions where I had to good old school with the straps. That is a problem too as they don't unlock well and don't open completely. So so bummer, I want the dream and for me no joy. Back to my Now good and faithful's for now.

    Dan, I knew you were originally from my home state of MD (I left in ‘81 at 11), but for some reason I thought you moved to Utah from Los Angeles. Glad you guys had another killer season. Yt just channeled me in from a more recent video of Brighton in May 24, very cool to see my favorite place in different lighting. Hopefully I can go back for the fourth year in a row in ‘25. As a visitor from out of state, I loved POW MOW. It is the only mountain in Utah that has large amounts of fresh snow for days after a storm. I only have 4 days on the mountain total but 2 of them were back to back days this year and it couldn't have been much better. Day 1 was a storm day. Zero lift lines and fresh snow all day. Day 2 was a spectacular bluebird day with views and all the fresh snow remaining. Any other resort is completely tracked out within hours of the snow stopping. The way I like to think of it: I think Snowbird offers the best individual runs but Powder Mountain offers the best overall days. If you catch a rope drop on Mineral Basin at Snowbird that is very hard to beat, but the snow will be gone after 2-3 runs. Each individual run at Powder Mountain might not be as spectacular, but the conditions WILL persist all day. I am nervous about the upcoming changes to the resort. It would be a real shame if they ruin what they have going.
